The Colony House Wedding | Kevin & Rachel

Anaheim, CA

Kevin and Rachel's first kiss at their Colony House wedding ceremony in front of the living green wall in Anaheim, California

Kevin and Rachel's wedding at The Colony House in Anaheim was one of those days where everything just clicked. The venue looked incredible after its recent renovations, the couple was completely at ease in front of the camera, and their families brought the kind of energy that kept the celebration going all night. I had the pleasure of photographing both their engagement session in the studio and their wedding day, and that prior connection made the whole experience feel natural and familiar from start to finish.

Getting Ready at The Colony House

The morning started with getting ready on both sides at the venue. Rachel was radiant, putting the final touches on her look in the bridal suite against The Colony House's signature sage green paneled walls. Kevin suited up in a sharp dark green three-piece suit with a copper tie, surrounded by his groomsmen. The natural light pouring through the venue's floor-to-ceiling windows made these early moments a joy to photograph.

Family First Looks

Before the ceremony, Rachel shared an emotional first look with her father against the sage green paneled wall. Watching him see his daughter in her wedding dress for the first time was one of those quiet, powerful moments that remind you why wedding photography matters. We also captured a portrait of the two of them together, and the pride on his face said everything.

The First Look

Kevin and Rachel chose to do a first look before the ceremony, which gave us time for portraits without cutting into cocktail hour. Rachel tapped Kevin on the shoulder in front of The Colony House's living green wall, and his reaction was pure joy. These are some of my favorite images from the day.

Bridal Portraits

The Colony House's renovated interior gave us so many options for portraits. Between the exposed wood beams, the industrial glass walls, and the soft natural light, every corner felt like a setup waiting to happen. Rachel's off-the-shoulder gown with lace detailing and cathedral-length veil photographed beautifully in the space, and we were able to create a range of looks without ever leaving the venue.

The Ceremony

The ceremony took place indoors at The Colony House, with Kevin and Rachel exchanging vows in front of the venue's living green wall. Flanked by lush tropical floral arrangements with white orchids and palms, the backdrop was modern, elegant, and perfectly suited to the couple's style. The exposed wood beam ceiling overhead added warmth and character to the intimate setting.

The Reception: A Night to Remember

If the ceremony was heartfelt, the reception was electric. The Colony House's industrial-chic event space with its white brick walls, rattan pendant lights, and warm uplighting created the perfect atmosphere for the celebration that followed. The evening was full of emotional toasts, energetic dancing, and one of the best dance floors I've seen at a wedding.

One of the highlights was Rachel's outfit change into a red qipao for the reception, honoring Chinese tradition. The contrast of the red silk against the venue's modern industrial backdrop made for some striking images, and the energy on the dance floor when Kevin and Rachel came out in their new looks was next level.
